RIP To Nigeria’s Oldest Surviving Soldier


A former solider Pa Adama Aduku, believed to be the oldest surviving retiree of the Nigerian Army, has died at the age of 101.

His death was announced by one of his relations on the WhatsApp platform of the Director Defence Information, Defence Headquarters news platform on January 1, 2020.

According to the post, Pa Aduku died on December 31, 2019.

Bittertruth Media recalls that the old soldier was  the last seen publicly at the 2018 Nigerian Army Day Celebrations(NADCEL), held in Lagos, where he was presented with an award of excellence by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

It may interest you to note that Pa Adama Aduku was born in 1918, to a peasant farmer at Abejukolo-Ife, at Omaha Local Government Area of Kogi State. He joined the army in 1945.
