The Supreme Court has upheld the re-election of the All Progressive (APC) candidate, Simon Lalong, as the governor of Plateau State and the election of Bala Muhammed of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) as governor of Bauchi State.

Lalong’s reelection was affirmed in a unanimous judgement read by Justice Paul Galinje, which led a seven-member panel of the court that held that the applicant failed to prove that the election was not in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act.

Also, in Bauchi State, the apex in a unanimous judgment read by Justice Dattijo Mohammed dismissed the appeal by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Muhammed Abubakar.

The seven-member panel of the apex court held that the evidence of the appellants’ witnesses at the election tribunal was inadmissible.
