Four suspects earlier arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police for alleged car theft have been finally released.
However, the owner of the car later disclosed that his car was never stolen, yet the police authority in Rivers State continued to torture and later prosecuted them.
The four suspects have been behind the popular social media tag #Ikuku4.
One of them simply identified as Chima was reportedly tortured to death by the office officers last December.
The late Chima was a vehicle mechanic allegedly killed while in custody of the E Crack Police Unit in Port Harcourt.
Upon being released today following the Department Of Public Prosecution’s position that there is no case against them and their subsequent discharge, various degrees of injury was found on them as a result of the torture melted on them by the police officers.
A group of civil society organisations had already declared today as a #BlackWednesday against police brutality.
The late Chima left behind a pregnant wife and parents.
