Ekpeyong Takes 2nd Oath As Akpabio’s Senator

Dr.Chris Ekpeyong of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been sworn in for the second time as the senator representing Akwa Ibom north-west, where his opponent now Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, God’s will Akpabio hails from.

The oath of office was administered on Ekpenyong by Musa Abdullahi, deputy clerk of the senate, after Senate President Ahmad Lawan called for it.

Bittertruth Media recalls that the PDP candidate was first sworn in June after he defeated Godswill Akpabio, former senate minority leader, in the general election that was held in February.

However, Akpabio challenged the declaration of Ekpenyong as the winner of the poll at the tribunal and at the appeal court. After which the appeal court in November ordered a rerun poll. Ekpenyong won the rerun election that took place on January 25 after Senator Akpabio pulled out of the race.
