Protest As Rivers State Task Force Allegedly Kills A Currency Trader

Officials of the Rivers State Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets, and Motor Parks, on Tuesday allegedly killed a bureau de change operator.

Bittertruth Media gathered that the incident happened  in the Rumuola area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, throwing the area into pandemonium.

It was further gathered that the victim was beaten to death by the task force officials trying to arrest street traders.

The death of the currency trader led to massive protests by other bureau de change operators around the area.

The protest affected road users as it resulted to traffic around Hotel Presidential on Aba Road of Rivers State.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the taskforce, Bright Amaewhule as denied the involvement of his men in the death of the currency trader. He insisted that the man was returned alive on the basis of his health by the magistrate in charge of the mobile court. But later shocked by the news of his demise.

As at press time, the Rivers State Police authorities are yet to react to the issue.
