A Nigerian Para powerlifter, and Paralympic gold medalist, Esther Oyema, has been stripped of her medal and banned for four years.
This was announced by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Esther Oyema was found to have violated an anti-doping rule after a prohibited substance known as 19-norandrosterone was found in a urine sample she provided on January 28, 2019.
She had reportedly used the prohibited substance while participating in the Lagos 2019 International Para Powerlifting Competition in Nigeria.
Bittertruth Media recalls that Esther Oyema had won the gold at London 2012 in the women’s 48kg.
