A Lagos Division of the Federal High Court has ordered the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), in Kuje, Abuja to “immedialy release” a former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu.
The order was given by Mohammed Liman, following an application moved by Mr Kalu’s counsel Lateef Fagbemi, seeking his release.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) did not oppose the application.
Bittertruth Media recalls that the Supreme Court had on May 8 nullified the 12 years conviction of Kalu, who is the current Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate.
The apex court then also ordered a retrial of the case.
