Baring any last minute change of schedule, the current deputy governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, is set to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he is expected to cmtest for the govenroship election against his principal, Gov.Rotimi Akeredolu, who will be seeking a second tenure in office.
Bittertruth Media reports that Mr.Ajayi is seeking an automatic ticket of the PDP. However, some leaders of the PDP have give him fresh conditions before he will be allowed to run for governor on the party’s platform.
Part of the conditions is for Mr Ajayi to agree to serve one term and hand over to a core PDP loyalist.
A PDP chieftain, who pleaded anonymity, said Ajayi is expected to formally announce his defection this week and will not resign as deputy governor.
Meanwhile, some governorship aspirants under the PDP in Ondo State have vowed never to step down for Ajayi.
